Don't Allow Life’s Chaos Cause you to Shut Down: 5 Tips to Clear the Clouds of your Mind
We’re all here on this earth to learn lessons and for some these lessons come at huge costs.
The unexpected can take precedence over your well intended plans. Most would find this discouraging. Many will see these moments as signs of why they should quit. It can be really difficult to navigate seasons that are heavy with life changing moments. Whether it's a move, a loss, or a beautiful but overwhelming beginning; sometimes it can all be too much. Here are tested tips for fighting through the clouds of such a season.
Pause then Move
It's smart to be proactive. You teach yourself to expect the unexpected. You prepare yourself mentally for the hypotheticals of life, but sometimes the unexpected can be very blindsiding. So blindsiding that your mind either goes blank or you’re overwhelmed with choices for your next move. What should you do when everything comes flying at you all at once?
You pause and take a deep breath. Clarity comes when you are still enough to release and focus. You breathe through your mental clutter until you can hear your inner thoughts and guidance. You receive what you are being faced with and take the time to decide whether something is as important as your emotions want you to make it out to be.
If its too much to process, place it on the mental shelf for you to return to when you have the capacity to do so.
Put it on Paper
We often feel overwhelmed because we’re holding onto a lot. Imagine the typical day of a parent. The to do list is long with things to do not only for yourself but their little ones. Not to mention the ambitious entrepreneur or creative that has an abundance of ideas and just as many doubts to work through.
Everything competes for your attention and much of it feels like it's a priority. The question becomes whether or not they are. You’ve read that you should pause then move, but in that pause, perhaps you should put it all on paper.
Take a moment to write it all out. Unfiltered. Chaotic. Write down everything that feels like its currently weighing you down. Think of your fears, your worries, tasks to complete, creative ideas and more.
Like within the Clouded Thoughts: Guided Journal for Finding Mental Clarity & Purpose the practice of Brain Dumping becomes a standard practice as you work through each phase of the journal.
Once everything is on paper, you can truly see what you’re facing. You can then begin to strategize accordingly.
Prioritize & Prove
When you find yourself in survival mode, everything feels like a fire. Your anxieties may be heightened with the unwarranted urgency of everything. This is why it is important to take a moment and truly assess what needs to be done and what needs to be prioritized. Some things can wait. Ask yourself these questions:
Is there an expiration date involved?
If so, when?
If not, can it wait?
Am I worrying about something that’s out of my control?
What can I release? Suppressed emotions, doubts, fears?
Once you’ve decided what to prioritize, you can then create a plan. One small step daily can ensure you are moving forward. You can figure out the rest along the way.
Protect Your Peace
We can’t control everything, but we can control who and what we let into our personal space. Everything we experience can affect your mental clarity. If you constantly experience stress, negativity, and other distractions; no wonder you’re clouded. You have to curate a daily experience that supports and protects your mental state.
Try journaling, setting aside regular quiet time, spending time in nature, or taking a hiatus from social media. Find what works for you with intent to cultivate consistent peace.
If you’re like many of us out here in the year 2026, there is a lot going on. With all of the distractions, time stops for no one and we must persist. Try some of these practices and see if they help with clearing the clouds of your mind.
