Receiving the Right Ideas in the Wrong State of Mind
Have you ever received an idea that felt like your big one, only to shelve it for later. Over time, the idea falls off of your radar lost in the abyss of forgotten gems. You didn’t abandon the idea because it lacked potential, you received the right idea in the wrong state of mind and you choked by not pursuing it.
Let’s reprogram your thoughts on these moments.
Many Ideas but Little Energy to Get it Done
If you’re anything like me, you don’t lack ideas. You lack time and probably could use some time practice mastering time management.
When life is lifing and responsibilities pile up, time just seems to disappear. If you’re telling yourself that you don’t have the resources, perhaps this is a stretch. The real issue isn’t money or tools. It’s energy. You’re overwhelmed. You’re depleted. You’re in need of some much needed regeneration.
Don’t Settle for Misalignment
What you’re experiencing isn’t failure. It isn’t evidence that you’re incapable or unworthy. It's not an excuse to give up. These moments are signs that your ideas are not only ahead of their time, but ahead of your mindset.
Your skills may be ready. Your creativity may be abundant, and this is why you receive the idea in the first place. It’s your mentality overall; your discipline, preparation, and alignment that must meet the ideas where they rise.
You’ve received the vision, but you’re out of sync. It's up to you to create the environment that can receive and sustain the ideas you are honored to receive.
They’re Not “Missed Opportunities”
From here forward lets reprogram ourselves about “missed opportunities”. There is no such thing as a missed opportunity if something is meant for you. Timing is out of your control so relinquish your focus on it.
You are only responsible for your choices. Whether you do or don’t keep going is up to you.
If you throw in the towel because something feels inconvenient, uncomfortable, or demanding, you’re choosing to forgo the opportunity. The choice to keep going often leads to long-lasting rewards.
If you can’t execute an idea in one season, consider it planted for the right time.
Some Ideas Need Time to Marinate
There is a season for everything. Every idea isn’t meant to be executed immediately.
Some ideas may be time-sensitive. Others need a little time to marinate. Your experience is the marinade.
We often overlook the importance of living first to build the meaning that ensures others resonate with your work. Character development coupled with action means a creation filled with something powerful and authentic
When you rush an idea before you’re ready, you risk showing up masked and audiences feel that.
Authenticity Matters More Than Speed
Your audience can sense the truth in your words. They can also sense when there is a void in truth as well.
When you pursue ideas for validation, attention, or urgency rather than alignment, the work loses its essence. It feels rushed. It feels soullessly manufactured. Authenticity is what gives an idea its power. It’s not the speed, quantity, or consistency for consistency’s sake.
This has been a hard lesson learned.
Quality means much more than volume. Quantity is worthless if the quality isn’t there.
When Life Forces You to Pause
Sometimes, no matter how hard you push, life will force you to take several seats.
False starts and disappointments should not be used to disqualify you. They should fuel your steps forward and the passion that drives it.
When you force what isn’t aligned, it falls flat. When it's meant for you, it will align without duress.
Your Ideas Are Wake-Up Calls
Every idea you receive is a reminder of what you are capable of. There is more available to you if you continue to move forward in your purpose.
Every idea isn’t meant to come easily. The path also isn’t guaranteed to be a smooth one. The journey is designed to filter out those unwilling to rise, adjust, and persist.
Success belongs to those who keep going regardless of seasons of delay. When the time feels right, they will take the opportunity to jump back in full force.
When you get the chance, give an idea your all. Prepare it, nurture it, and bring it to completion.
You Haven’t Missed Your Chance, You’re Preparing for It
Remind yourself as many times as it takes: You’re not behind. You haven’t missed your opportunity. You’re not a failure because your timeline differs from others.
You’re in your season of preparation and your vision deserves space to grow.
When the timing is right, you won’t just have the idea, you’ll know exactly what to do with it.
Trust that.
